Server Running Smooth

18th October 2007 at 12:47:55 am

Well, the server re-upload is complete… I don’t want to do that again for a very long time. Hopefully I can live with what we’ve got at this point for quite some while.

In other news, it’s way past sleep-time! Hooray!

BTW, I notice that the anti-aliasing on the comments icon is a bit off. (It’s aliased for a lighter colour.) I suppose it came with the theme?

If you want to change any of your icons or get something in PNG format so it doesn’t have the icky white aliasing pixels around the edge, here’s a free icon site from a reputable source:

    http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/

As a graphic designer, I give these thumbs up.

Yeah, I’ve been editing icons out the wahzoo because the original theme author didn’t. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt and leave it as a possible layover from the theme he derived from.

I did see the Comments Icon, and it actually looks better than it used to (all the icons used to have a wacky-looking halo). I decided to just leave it as-is, however, because even though it clashes just a bit with the rest of the icons, I kinda like it. Thanks for the heads up and link, though. :)

Well, erm, I thought it over, and you’re right.

Also, I looked more closely at the index of that Silk icon set, and I’m sold. Love it.

So, expect to see those Silk icons popping up here and there. :)

Upon closer inspection, it looks like the majority of my icons already came from famfamfam.com’s “Mini” icon set, where they were also GIF images with a white halo.

Silk, on the other hand, is the kind of iconset that makes me want to be a web programmer for a living, because it shows just how beautiful the web can be.

Then I look at lismitchell.net and pretty much just lose my brains. :)

The only problem with my site is….I need to seriously transition everything into CSS. Shouldn’t be too hard. I’ve only been putting it off for forever because it’s like that proverb about the cobbler’s kids going without shoes. The web designer’s page gathers dust when she actually has to work for a living, you know. I come home from work and all desire to work on the web or stare at the screen dribbles out.

Oh, I’m transitioning the blog to word press too. It was static pages before. Well, semi-static. It’s all PHP templates I made myself.

*leans in all Morpheus-like* I know exactly what you mean.

Grats on making PHP all by yourself, though! :) (but considering your immediate family, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s really a programmer deep down inside that facade of an artist ;) )
